» How is an ink or toner cartridge recycled?

Each ink and toner cartridge that is dropped off for recycling at any STAPLES Business Depot/BUREAU EN GROS store is sent to a remanufacturing plant. Upon receipt of the cartridges the following occurs:

  1. Cartridges are critically analyzed for reuse/remanufacturing.

  2. Any old ink remaining is removed from the cartridges so they can be remanufactured and thoroughly cleaned using a patent cleaning process.

  3. If necessary, the cartridge is disassembled and replacement components are reassembled.

  4. Cartridges are then filled with the highest quality ink, specifically formulated for vivid colours and bold blacks.

  5. All cartridges are tested to ensure quality performance before purchase.

Slight variations in the above process may occur based on the type of cartridge.
